Sally Michener was born in Fergus Falls, MN. She received her MSW from Columbia University in New York City. After studying pottery with Warren Mackenzie from 1959 to 1962, she attended and received her MFA from the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio, studying ceramic sculpture with Roy Cartwright. In her almost 50-year career, Michener has exhibited widely in Canada and abroad and has participated in over 100 group and 17 solo exhibitions. She was a member of the ceramics faculty at Emily Carr University of Art + Design from 1973-1998. Her work can be found in numerous public collections in Canada, the United States, China, Japan and Mexico. She is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts and currently lives in West Vancouver.
