Jinny Whitehead, Vancouver, Wood-fired cylindrical vase with driftwood. 25 cm h x 11 cm w. All proceeds from this vase will be gifted to the Yaletown House where Jinny is residing.
Jinny (Veronique) Whitehead was born in 1952 in Calcutta, India, and grew up in the UK. From 1973, she served in a variety of international postings with her Canadian diplomat husband. Her studies in ceramics started in 1981 in Merrickville, Ontario. In 1995, she moved to Vancouver and joined the Pottery Group in the West End Community Centre. In 1996, she established “Studio 3” with five colleagues. In 2003, Jinny became the Vice-President of the PGBC and the President in 2005. She took charge of organizing the PGBC’s 50th Anniversary year and remained a dynamic president until 2012, during which time she also served on the board of the NWCF. She continued to be involved with the Guild until 2018. She is known for her beautiful wood-fired vessels, which are often sensitively combined with selected pieces of driftwood.
