Description
Wayne Ngan (1937 – 2020), Box. 4” x 4”, stoneware, wood fire reduction with ash glaze, circa late 1980s. Donated by Nathan Tichenor.
With his singular blend of technical mastery and experimental methodology, Wayne Ngan is widely recognized as one of Canada’s most renowned and celebrated ceramic artists.
Ngan received the Saidye Bronfman Award for Masters of the Crafts in 1983 and the British Columbia Creative Achievement Award of Distinction in 2013. His work has been shown at the National Palace Museum in Taipei, Hanart Galleries in Hong Kong and Taipei, the London Design Festival at Canada House, NADA Art Fair in Miami, the Dallas Art Fair, and he has had solo exhibitions at Nathalie Karg Gallery, New York, Marc Jancou, Geneva, and the Vancouver Art Gallery.
