Barb Tipton, Salt Spring Island, Weight of History, multi-glazed, multi-fired ceramic sculpture. 5.5”h x 9” dia.  

Barbara Tipton was born near Chicago, U.S.A. She was educated in Memphis, Tennessee (BFA), and then Columbus, Ohio (MFA). She began as a maker of wheel-thrown, functional pottery, but strong interests in drawing and sculpture gradually had an effect. The objects she has exhibited over the last years are primarily sculptural and involve complex surfaces created by repeated layering and firing of textural glazes and slips, occasionally decals.
