Maria Palotas was born in Budapest, Hungary. During the years 1968-1981, she studied Arts and Sculpture at the Huber Desi and Ferenczy Beni Fine Arts Studio in Budapest. She also had a two- year apprenticeship with Ari Lakatos, at the Andrea Kiss Studio in Budapest.
Maria immigrated to Canada and founded her current studio, MariPottery, in 2003. Her influences have been her mentor, Ari Lakatos, Pueblo, Hungarian, and Greek Arts and Crafts.
Maire sold though the Gallery of BC Ceramics, exhibited at the Port Moody Art Gallery, and is a member of the Tri-Cities Potters Guild.
